Who needs to take dMAT?
Under the current India APS route, dMAT applies to selected Master’s applicants whose previous degree is in one of the following fields.
The current requirement applies to affected applicants applying for Summer Semester 2027 and subsequent intakes, subject to transitional exemptions.
Important
Applicants who completed APS online registration before 29 June 2026, or whose complete APS documents were shipped before 29 June 2026, may fall under the transitional exemption for that APS procedure.

What is dMAT?
dMAT, the Digital Master Test, is an academic aptitude assessment used in the Master’s application process for Germany. It assesses reasoning and analytical ability rather than subject knowledge from your degree, and is made up of a Core Module together with a subject module.

What is dMAT?+
dMAT is the Digital Master Test, an academic aptitude assessment used in the Master’s application process for Germany. It assesses reasoning and analytical ability rather than subject knowledge from your degree.
Who needs to take dMAT?+
Under the current India APS route, dMAT applies to selected Master’s applicants whose previous degree is in engineering, commerce, accounting, finance, economics, business or management. Applicability also depends on your target intake and on the transitional exemptions.
Is dMAT mandatory for all Indian students?+
No. It applies to selected applicant categories within the India APS process, not to every Indian student applying to Germany.
Which degree backgrounds are currently affected?+
Engineering; commerce, accounting, finance and economics; and business and management, under the current India APS route.
Which Master’s intakes are affected?+
The current requirement applies to affected applicants applying for Summer Semester 2027 and subsequent intakes, subject to transitional exemptions.
What are the transitional exemptions?+

What is the dMAT Core Module?+
The Core Module is the common component of dMAT, assessing general academic reasoning. It is the component the current Bluehawks programme is designed around.
What is the General Academic Module?+
It is the subject module currently used in the India APS route for affected applicant categories, taken alongside the Core Module.
Does Bluehawks preparation cover the complete dMAT?+
No. The current programme is designed around the dMAT Core Module. It does not claim to cover every component of the examination.
Is dMAT the same as APS?+
No. dMAT is an aptitude assessment; APS is the verification of your academic documents. A dMAT result does not replace APS verification, and neither one is a university admission decision.
Does dMAT guarantee admission to a German university?+
No. Admission decisions are made by universities against their own requirements.
Is the official dMAT examination fee included in the course fee?+
No. The Bluehawks course fee covers preparation only. The official examination fee is paid separately through the official dMAT process.
Can I prepare for dMAT online?+
Yes. Bluehawks dMAT preparation is delivered as live online classes in structured batches.
